I promise I will update on Ranch progress, how we ended up with 4 puffs, and what we've been up to since December but for right now all I can deliver is some alphabetical random information about myself. ABCDEnjoy!

C. Chore you hate: cleaning the bathroom because no matter how clean it is there’s still sad wallpaper on the ceiling and glue-destroyed tiles on the floor

D. Dogs: are my best friends. With 4 of them it’s like I really do have a Puff Ranch.

G. Gold or silver: let’s be honest, I love all shiny things

I. Instruments you play: at one point I have played the recorder, the cello, and the guitar (the last one I still attempt to play)

J. Job title: 1st grade teacher aka mom, grandma, nurse, counselor, event coordinator, field trip specialist, BFF, shoe-tying queen, person everyone saves a seat for, etc., etc.

L. Live: Florida gal turned Utahn (my life is now like that Ford Explorer commercial and I dig it)

V. Vegetables you dislike: I hate onions but mushrooms hate me more.

W. What makes you run late: trying to find a cute outfit for winter weather that never ends

Y. Yummy food you make: enchiladas, chicken parm (for the hubs), spicy chili, pasta salad

Z. Zoo- favorite animal: Penguins because I have fond memories of eating snow cones on my lunch break with them and my SeaWorld friends

I'm constantly haunted by songs from my former life (or lives). They come on the radio on my way to the gym. They catch me by surprise when I'm lounging on the couch. They're in my head when I wake up some mornings. With a couple remembered/misremembered lines I'm back on a road trip, lying on a red bed under twinkle lights or in the Thunderdome. It makes my heart twinge a little at all the people I used to be in those moments. Then the music stops and I'm back in my present life thinking that soon today's songs will be tomorrow's ghosts.

After living here for three years we've learned to take the weird with the excellent. Fall in Utah is absolutely stunning and makes you really glad you live here. We typically celebrate with a hike through the canyons, but this year we settled for "preggopotamus hiking" to accommodate baby and my growing belly. Fall also means the return of blouse-y tops, leggings, and boots. I've been lucky enough to "fit" into my typical clothes for most of this pregnancy and I aim to continue my boycott of maternity clothes in these final months. Free People (a company I loved pre-baby too) is the greatest of my life. Their flowing hippie fabric lets me feel like myself even while my body is changing. Their tops made an appearance on our hiking excursion and crib set-up. Don't worry, we realize there's more to having a baby than fashion. We've been working on getting the nursery ready. Putting up Eileen's crib was a family affair and quite the adventure.

I wanna go somewhere I can get drunk and tan and walk around

We lasted two years in Arizona. We walked to school past Saguaro sentinels, escaped to Flagstaff to run in real grass every October, and confused coyotes for dogs (okay maybe that was just me). We drank Dutch Bros all the dang time, reunited with high school friends who are lifelong friends, and watched our kids make up loud songs while bouncing on couches. We swam in our pool in the morning, afternoon, and night under the twinkle lights even when our neighbors' AC went out and sounded like an airplane landing all long weekend. We did date nights a la the Scottsdale lifestyle occasionally thanks to preschool "parents' night out."  There were trips to Stevie Nicks' mama's defunct antique emporium, the LOVE statue on Valentine's Day, lots of trips to Tuscon, and revisiting childhood at the Lisa Frank Factory. There were ones when I would drive out as far as one street would go and find myself next to tipped metal horses under a pre-monsoon sky. ...
