It was a perfect day for treasure hunting.

The sun was shining, there was open road and one picnic area was empty save for sprinklers that were a blast to run though. We explored 6 rest areas and came away with nothing but a chipped windshield.

It didn't matter though, a day spent with the Tez is treasure enough for me!

When I was fixing to graduate UF my academic adviser told me that unless I wanted to live in a cardboard box, I needed to explore other things to do with my English degree. True story. So, while this horrible sick thing has knocked me out of the past week it wasn't enough to stop our ongoing saga as house hunters. On this particular outing we found another short sale to put an offer in on. This one is a split level on a "big" parcel (and by that I mean big as far as city lots go) and it's not like anything we've seen. It 's not as old as we usually like but it's got a lot of potential. Also on this trip I realized how house hunting is like legally being able to urban explore. In our short time running through other people's houses we've found some strange and gross things. As much as we're trying to find our forever home it's almost just as fun finding ones that won't ever be. Leave it to me to write my first post of the new year six months into it. It's impossible to recount all the adventures we've had or the wonderfully mundane events that have passed. So, instead I'll just say (because I'm feeling sappy)... 2014 has been about arrivals and departures.  The Ranch has been alive with the dearest kind of visitors from the home state. They have Sundanced, farmed, egg hunted, and filled the space between these walls with laughter. They've come to life, hopped right out of their pictures and become real to our kids. It's been amazing.  And then there was February. We said goodbye (sometimes in spirit, sometimes in person, always in heart) to Mama Zoy, Seth's Grandma, and our raspberry neighbor Charlotte. It is an isolating experience to lose someone and be so physically distant. We tend both sides of the raspberry patch and visit Charlotte's grave because we can.
