*it's gonna be my time*

When I was Eileen's age I was already well obsessed with "My Little Ponies." At least that's what my baby book said. Despite Seth and I's best efforts to show Bean the wonder of Don Bluth classics, she just hasn't been a "watching things" kind of girl. 

 That is until a couple of weeks ago when Seth introduced her to Sofia the First while I was sneaking in a mid-afternoon pass-out session. She sat through the whole made-for-Disney-Channel movie and has since watched all 15 Disney Junior episodes. 

 We love it because we get to sneak in the ever illusive cuddle. She'll proclaim "I watch" before being so immersed in Sofia that she forgets she minds you snuggling with her. In fact, she only moves to wave when Sofia does in the opening song (Eileen's got a natural princess wave) or to dance. Otherwise she's yours.

 Sofia (or "Sopia"/"Pia" as Bean calls her) is everywhere in our house but I can't help myself. It's fun watching her make her amulet light up for people that comment on her jewels. She loves coloring at her Sofia table. She's developed a new love of dolls and makes hers dance and walk. When we're out and she sees Sofia merchandise she gets all excited and shouts "Pia!" We also have the cd in the car and have learned all the words. 

  It's just awesome to see your little girl pick something that she likes and go with it.

First off, Happy St. Patty's Day my friends! I am indeed drinking after the kind of week we've had in the house hunting department. We've now seen over 18 houses. Monday was a trip downtown to the Avenues. If I were an SLC address I would be in the Avenues. It's eclectic, hip and full of puff people. It's also typically way out of our price range. So we were pretty amped to look at 2 houses that were. This was the nicer of the 2: We'll call it the "Graveyard Avenues" house from here on out. It was built in 1906 and like most houses in the area is going to need some work. Some of the work is cosmetic and other types are major like securing the foundation. These houses are just so old and are on hills that they need to be updated. BUT, a block away there are massively nice mansions. "I rest my head between the bed and sky"

I'm constantly haunted by songs from my former life (or lives). They come on the radio on my way to the gym. They catch me by surprise when I'm lounging on the couch. They're in my head when I wake up some mornings. With a couple remembered/misremembered lines I'm back on a road trip, lying on a red bed under twinkle lights or in the Thunderdome. It makes my heart twinge a little at all the people I used to be in those moments. Then the music stops and I'm back in my present life thinking that soon today's songs will be tomorrow's ghosts.

With the exception of the obvious lifestyle overhaul that comes along with pregnancy, I feel blessed to have "coasted" through it. It really has been an easy go. That made me worried that while I was so preoccupied with work and getting ready to temporarily leave my 25 babies for our new one, I would miss the crazy nesting period. Instead I've pushed my normal laid-back self to the side in favor of doing tons of baby laundry, trying to get on top of all my own personal things that need to be taken care of, and wanting to clean...rather than sleep. The epitome of this mother-hen-ness was me in Home Depot on a Sunday night buying furniture moving blankets so Seth and I could swap the dressers in the front room and the baby nursery. Nesting during the week takes the form of being cranky about not being able to get to the vintage furniture store. We need a small bookshelf for Eileen. That's my mama mission for tomorrow. If I can finish decorating her room by tomorrow too
